(Sung to the tune of Elton John's "Rocket Man")
I packed my lunch last night, what a sight
Pounded yam, once again
And my dinnertime sighs can be heard for miles
I miss dessert so much, I miss my spice
It’s boring on my plate
Bite after tasteless bite
And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time
Til I see a veggie of some other kind
There’s better food lying out on the road
Oh no, no, no
I’m eating pounded yam
Pounded yam
I would eat moth balls with more gusto
Yam ain’t the kind of food to raise a thrill
In fact, it’s dull as hell
And there’s no way to embrace it
If you tried.
And fancy dishes, I don’t ever eat
I’m sucking yam five days a week
Pounded y—a—a—a—m, Pounded yam
And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time
Til my colon gets rid of this starchy bind
I feel my stomach getting set to explode
Oh no, no, no
I’m eating pounded yam
Pounded yam
You’re a big white cement turd of stone
And I think it’s going to be a long, long time….

You're out of you're gourd.
Great meter, though. It's unspoiled by miscounted syllables...as long as "y-a-a-a-m" counts as five, anyway.
Great work! Keep 'em coming.

My kid Kieran spends a lot of time in Sub Saharah Africa. I think his basic diet is pounded maize mash, sometimes fermented, sometimes not. We don't talk about the food and its effects on his daily BM, but then he lives in Ottawa when back in NA. That can't be a culinary delight either [yes, I'm a food snob, and an Ottawa hater]. The YAM who AM does not include HAM and there's no reference to SAM, as in Sam I am eats Yam and Ham that tastes just like Spam but without Jam [bad Seuss]. OK, kiddies, how many words can you come up with that rime with YAM and are not abridgements, like Fam for family or cam for camera. Damn, what a notion, not dam, what a nice wall! Best as always. Oops. I must have had a girl named Sarah on my mind. Sahara is what I meant, of course, as in the desert. A simple but insane aside: I did a Google search on the word "desert" to find online photos for my screen saver, and behold after several pages of desert scenes, I came upon the picture of a chocolate cake! It seems that even in Google desert and dessert are synonymous. So much for our spelling lesson today, inspired by my inability to read what I write before uploading it. Victor
